I love vellum - and stamping on it with our a*muse studio inks is just DIVINE!  It has a velvety matte look to it that I just love.  On this card I used slate ink.

I then stamped on a Slate card with Onyx ink with the same ornate elements stamp for a background.  I paired it up with the Silver Damask Shimmer Couture pattern paper.  The slick shiny of this paper is an awesome contrast to the velvety matte vellum.  I added a little Onyx Bakers twine and that was the finishing touch it needed. 

Vellum can be tricky to adhere to you card - but this card uses a real easy trick I like to use to attach vellem so the adhsive cannot be seen!  You simply layer a strip of paper OVER your adhesive!  You have to plan it out a little - but if you strategically place your adhesive behind the vellum it works like a charm!  A simple trick for attaching vellum!

I am opff to our first day of a new Bible Study - we are starting the 2 Peter Precept study - and I am excited for what the Lord has in store for us!  Hope you all have a blessed day!

Monday Sketch #164

It is time again for my weekly sketch - and I hope some of you get to play this week!  I know exactly what I have in mind for my card - so we will see if it works out and ends up anything like what I am imagining.  I see vellum!  :-)

I had a SUPER weekend - starting of with an all day crop with some of my favorite people.  (we missed you guys who could not come this time!)  TONS of food, inspiration and fun!  I even got my trades done for National Conference!  I am excited to be heading to New Orleans this thursday - and will not be home tim Monday!  I will have the a*muse studio new catalog in my hot little hands - and hopefully some awesome new stuff to play with too!  We are staying at the Omni and having our Gala at Antoines!  Oh la la!  Now what to wear???  I am struggling in this area but know that it will all work out just fine!

Since we have a new catalog coming out - we have retiring lists!  One for stamps and one for products - and they will only be available til the end of January!  SO if there is anything on there that you are in NEED of - let me know!  You can shop online or email me your order.

This card was a runner up for my class last week.  I used Blush cardstock and ink paired up with Cherry cardstock, bakers twine and ink.  I used the smallest scallop border die to edge the cherry layer - LOVE!  The words are from Essential Sentiments and the hearts are from Hearts a Plenty  - which is on the retiring list so if you want it you better get it now before it is gone for good!

              

The Cherry Bakers Twine is such a great addition to all of your Valentines day cards and treats!  I just tied it around the layer and placed the bow in front of the red heart.

I am off and running today - I got a coupon in my pocket and have a date at Hobby Lobby!  :-)

Today's sketch is pretty basic - I could not beleive I had not done a sketch like this before when I went through my archive!  I use this layout alot - and know that alot of stampers do too.    I had planned to use an old sketch but had to make one instead.  I am going to use an edge die on the middle layer - just to jazz it up a bit! 

Amuse released their retiring products over the weekend - Boohoohooo.... :-(  I am SO sad to see some of these things going away - but am also looking forward to what they will have new in just a few weeks!   Check it out - and if there is anything you need get it quick - email me or shop online!  Once their supply is depeleted the item will no longer be available.

I am so excited to be working in a CLEAN studio.  Well mostly clean anyway!  I have one corner to organize - and I am going to make it a permanent scrapbooking corner!  One that I can leave things out - like the layout I am currently working on.  I am hoping that by having it out it will get me to get all these pictures scrapped!  I also hope that my family will get in on the journaling and memories!   Sounds like fun huh?

Wasabi and Slate

I just LOVE Wasabi and Slate together!  That was where I started with today's card - my color combination and a sketch.  I wanted to try out using same color layers - one with texture one without.  I sanded the layer with the Harlequin embossing to reveal a little of the white on the cardstock and to differnetiate the layers a little more.  What do you think?

I used the stamp from Beautiful Botanicals - my flower puff.  I know it cracks some of  you up when I call it that - I guess I just dont think of it as a weed!   I stamped it with Slate ink.   I further embellished the layer by edge distressing and with the addition of Onyx Bakers Twine.  The white scallop layer was also cut using the smallest of the scallop border set dies.  The greeting from Essential Sentiments is added with a piece of 3D foam adhesive.

It feels great to be back on track and getting things done in my studio.  It seems like so long since I had a schedule that I wanted to stick to and I hope that I can keep it up! 

Yesterday was the last day off for the kiddos.  Logan was of with one of his buddies so Laney and I spent the day together playing in my studio.  She has really blossomed as an artist in the last year.  Yesterday she was just drawing whatever she could find to draw.  I had forgotten that I had purchased some coloring sheets for her and logan a while ago and she found them - and decided to draw different parts of them on her own.  They are GOOD!  Reminds me of myself when I was her age - drawing all the time.

I really want to do some art things with her - and I think she is finally to the point where we can.  I got her started on a project and we were so into it last night that when it was time for bed we realized she forgot to take her shower!  SO funny!  SO she got to bed a little late - but I hope she is excited to get back to it when she gets home from school.  

I hope today finds you BLESSED beyond measure.  I was yesterday - and know that today God has even more in store for me!

Happy New Year!  I am so excited for 2012 and the blessings that God has in store for me and YOU!   I hope that 2012 brings us all many Creative Blessings, Love and Happiness!   I am SO ready to get 2012 rolling - and hopefully be back on track with my studio and creative endeavors. 

So far so good as I spent last week cleaning up and getting some counterspace uncovered!  Isn't it funny how (in my space anyway!) if I have a clean countertop - I can in a matter of hours get it all cluttered and non usable!  It drives me crazy and I always hope I can do better about NOT cluttering it up!  I just have too much STUFF!!  Anyone relate??

I am SUPER excited about tomorrow night's annual Christmas party with my besties - our weekly stamping group is getting together for a gift exchange.  I made my gift yesterday and i LOVE it!  I actually do not want to give it away so I am trying to figure out how I can STEAL it back!  LOL!  Seriously though I will just make another one - and I hope to make alot more of them.  It will definetly become a class in the very near future!  All last year I had this project on my mind and I wanted to try it but I kept putting it on the back burner.  SO I guess I already accomplished one of my 2012 goals!  Go me!   

Later today a*muse studio will be releasing the January Spotlight - so I will keep you posted!

I went crazy with embossing on this card - I love the subtle effect of clear embossing for a background - I used the Music background for this one.  I could not get my white polka dots to pop like I wanted - so white embossing for them and they are perfect! 

I played a little with my copics too - I love to color but when mass producing for Christmas cards I have to choose my images wisely or I will NEVER finish them!  This stamp set - Holiday tags

has 10 different images to choose from - that are all easy to color!  Definetly on my Christmas cards this year!

I had a major internet outage this week - which brought me to a screeching halt in my studio!  I had planned my work out for wednesday and then couldn't do any of it!  Posting this card was one of those items!  I am all back up and running - and hopefully back on track!

I have almost finished all my commitments before the holidays - and am looking forward to friday being able to focus on my family and our holiday celebrations.  We have alot to celebrate this year for sure!   I want to get some photo editing done and get our Alaska pictures printed into either books or just to frame.  We have SO many cool pictures and I honestly have not even looked at them yet! 

I also have to get started on my Christmas cards!  LOL!  I have a crop scheduled for this saturday - so I hope to get them done and ready to go that day.  Which means that I need to get a design nailed down this week!  Hope you have a blessed week and that you get a chance to play with your ink and stamps!

I can't decide if I like yesterdays better or today's - what do you think?  For this one I just stamped collage style - the tree with Fern ink, the music Bac kground with French Roast, and the greeting with Cherry.  Then I inked the edge with a sponge dauber.  I stamped the strip on the Fern piece with French Roast also.  I took a strip of French Rpast cardstock and embossed it with the snowflake impression plate then sanded it slightly to bring out the embossing.  After I stuck all those together I tied a piece of Cherry Bakers twine around and layered it to a Cherry Card.

I have Stamping Night Out Tonight so I am in my studio tweaking my projects that I had ready last week!  I had to postpone the class because of early departure for Vegas - so I have had time to second guess and think more on the projects and wonder if they are good enough.  Why do we all do that??  You may not do it for a class - but I think we all wonder and stress on wether the things we create are good enough.  It is some kind of negative inner voice that we all need to quiet! 

Well I am off to get my raffle prizes ready now!  More inspiration for you tomorrow I hope!

So of course I am glad to get back to my COPIC's!  LOVE how this image turned out.

I stamped the Music Background onto a strip of Fern Cardstock with French Roast ink - then edged it slightly with direct to paper technique.  I cut a strip of Candy Cane background paper - and layered it onto the strip as well.  Then I tied a piece of Cherry Ribbon into a knot and wrapped it around the strip.  Then I tucked my colored image under the ribbon and stuck it down too.  Next the strip was layered onto the card and the greeting was stamped with French Roast below it.

Did ya think you lost me again? I actually had a trip to Vegas get bumped up several days - which totally changed my todo list priorities! So I am home again and ready to seriously get back on track...seriously!!!  We had SO much fun in Vegas - along with one of my BFF's Julie and her hubby.  I think I walked about 100 miles atleast.  We ate like kings and had the best time wandering around see all there is to see.

 I am back in my studio - got my old computer ripped out of its spot and my new laptop in place.  Heck I even hooked up the printer today!  Yeah me!  I have a TON on my to do list for today - and I am still in jammies!  SO I better get the whip cracking!  I have another card for this sketch that I will share tomorrow!
