Purse-onality Book tutorial

I have had such a great response to this project - I wanted to be sure to give kudos to Jan Tink (I couldn't find the link to her when I originally put this out and am SO glad I found her again)  who made up these purses with Carousel Notes which are square envelopes with circle scallop note cards inside.  Since I did not have any I decide to venture off into my craft room La La land and what did I find???  Very nice Black A6 envelopes.  SO I made my book using A6 envelopes which are 4 3/4 x 6 1/2.  I also discovered that our Hang Tabs and envelopes are A6 size - and they are the nicest deepest brown you will ever see!  YUMMY!

You will need:

2 A6 Envelopes

 Cardstock:

(1) 5 ½ x 6 ½

(4) 4 5/8 x 6 3/8  I used 2 black and 2 white

(1) 1 ½ x 6 ½

(1) 6 ¾ wide oval

Pattern paper:

(1)5 ¼ x 6 ¼

(2) 4 ¼ x 6

(1) 1 x 6 ½

(1) 6 wide oval

Additional CS and pattern paper to embellish as desired

 Double stick adhesive

 8” ribbon

 6 Jumbo Eyelets

 Crop-a-dile

2” Circle Punch – or other punch for tab

Mega Scallop Circle

Punch – or other mega punch

Scor-pal or 12” cutter with scoring blade

 Scallop Scissors

Pieces

Adhere 5 ¼ x 6 ¼ pattern paper to 5 ½ x 6 ½ cardstock. This will be your Connector piece.

Next score connector piece in half on Cardstock side.  I used my Scor-pal - which makes it so easy to score things right where you want it!  Our piece is 5 1/2 wide - so we need to score at 2 3/4.  However - there is no 2 3/4 scoring track.  In order to score at 2 3/4 you need to utilize the 4 1/4 track - that is where you get a 1/4 score.  So what you do is take  4 1/4 MINUS 2 3/4 which equals 1 1/2.  (So 1 1/2 PLUS 2 3/4 equals 4 1/4 - now we are all wishing we had paid more close attention in MATH huh!)  So you will line up the edge of your piece at the 1 1/2 track and score at the 4 1/4 track in order to get a score at the half of your 5 1/2 piece.

Now fold that connectore piece in half and lay your envelopes on your table with the  flaps open and the openings up.

You will now attach the connector piece to the envelope FLAP - be sure to not go past the fold of the flap on the envelope or your connector will not fold correctly.

Repeat for other side of connector and remaining envelope.

Next take 2 4 5/8 x 6 3/8 pieces and attach the 4 1/4 x 6 pattern paper to them.

Punch a half shape (I used the Mega Scallop circle) along one side of each of these pieces apprx. 1" from top edge.
Punchout
Apply tape to cardstock side of these pieces on three sides - but NOT along the edge that you just punched.  If you put adhesive there you will be gluing your pocket closed.

Now insert the other  4 5/8 x 6 3/8 pieces into these pockets

Next you will make a tab to place in the cut out that you punched.  I used a 2" circle punch  for mine.  YOu want to fold it in half - and I used my Scor-pal for this step again.  Simply place your circle on your scor-pal centering it between 2 inch marks

Then score down the center mark

Place a little adhesive onto tab piece and crease along score line

Pull open pocket and find your placement for yout tab centering on the punched out shape

Fold over and adhere tab

Repeat for other side

Remove pages to set an eyelet into tab

Next we will make our purse flap.  I cut out my oval shape with my Wishblade - it makes jobs like this so easy!  If you would like the file I used just e-mail me and i will be happy to share it.  If you do not have this kind of cutter you will just cut out an oval that is 6 3/4 wide and then scallop the edge with scallop scissors.

Layer a 6" oval pattern piece on top of larger scallop oval piece.

Now you need to score your oval in half.  I again pulled out my handy Dandy Scor-pal and lined up my oval with one track going thru the center

Then score along the center line

Fold piece in half

Decide which half will be the front and which will be the back flap.
Attach one eyelet in the center of front flap

- attach 2 eyelets to the back side

Insert ribbon thru one of the eyelets on the back side

Turn piece over and attach ribbon with adhesive inside

Repeat with other end of ribbon and other eyelet

Add more tape to this side of flap piece and attach to one end of envelope

You will now want to burnish the fold along the flap and the fold in the middle of your connector piece so that your purse will stand up on its own
Foldeduppurse
I wanted to add a strip to the front of the purse - so i took the 1x6 1/2 pattern piece and attached it to the 1 1/2 x 6 1/2 piece of white cardstock and scalloped along one edge.

If you want brads or hadrware on this piece attach them now before you add the strip to the front of purse.

Now you can add pictures and embellishments as desired!

Hi, Heather---After Annette Brisse, you are my favorite Angel. I love your work. I have known Annette for over 10 years, and I love her so much. And I have always admired your work, even when I was angel 852. Now I am TAC Angel 4452 or 4453, I cannot remember. Only a hobbyist, but so drawn and inspired by your work. Thank you for this demo. I can see it took A LOT of time to complete.

Gute Arbeit hier! Gute Inhalte.
