Accessories: Scor-pal, Sanding block and Perforating blade
All perforating tool are not created equally! I was excited to
receive my Tonic Perforating tool today. They are cute and small and
handy! Unfortunately they do not work well for the Faux Stitching
technique. I also tried out the Cutter Bee Perforation rotary tool -
and it also does not work well. I used my old faithful Fiskars Rotary
Cutter with perforating blade that I got eons ago!
The
difference is that the "slots" on the blade are longer and spaced
further apart. I believe it is the superior tool for this technique
and using it with your Scor-pal for tear off edges like the book mark
cards.
To make a stitch line at 1/2 inch from edge of your piece start by
placing your piece to be stitched along the RIGHT fence (If you are a
lefty the left fence will be easier) You do not want it along the TOP
fence - just put it some where in the middle of the Scor-pal - but
along the right or left fence.
Next you will place your perforating tool into the track below your
piece. I lean it over to the side so I can be sure that it is IN the
track.
Now using gentle pressure run your wheel up and across you piece and off the top edge.
Now turn your piece 1/4 turn and repeat the above steps until you
have all four sides stitched. When done - flip it over and you should
have something like this
How cool! Especially for us sewing machine challenged people! You
can of course place you papers elsewhere on your Scor-pal to get
different widths other than 1/2 inch - so have fun with it!
In the card above I tried it on Matchmaker Cardstock - and it works great too! I flipped it over and then sanded lightly over the stitches and VOILA!
Recognize the squares strip? It is from the bottom cut off edge of the Sands of Time papers!
Have fun with your Faux Stitches! Just remember to go lightly so you do not gauge your Scor-pal!

This is the essence of creativity! How brilliant. Love love LOVE it! Thanks so much for sharing it, :O)

Im looking for a blade that fits in my fiskars rotary cutters that will punch a hole about every 1/2 inch in blizzard cloth-2 plys at a time. Will this tool do that? if not, can you tell me where I can find such an accessory.? JH

Hey there,
I have been scouring the web to find a rotary style perforating tool, and noticed your Fiskar one, any ideas where I could find one online? Cool blog, by the way :)
