So last night was my catalog premiere - what a FUN night! (that is also why no sketch this week!) I was so excited to get our new catalog into everyone hot little hands - and boy was there a lot of LOVE in the air. Here are the two cards we did for our make and takes:

I just LOVE that background stamp! There are others that come along with it but it is the Big Daddy! :-) I wanted to use the Gem collections too because that is my new fav accessory! They are a great deal too!

I have fallen head over heals for the copics! I also heard someone last night (you know who you are!) at the beginning of the night say " I am NOT buying copic markers!" Then after she finished her card she said "I want the copics now!" If you have not seen how TAC has set up the Copic Caboodles sets - you have got to check it out! 4 sets of thre blending combos make it so easy to color with these markers - already picked out and tell you what to use together - and if you really need it simple - we have cardstock that coordinates with the sets too!

When I get the Caboodles I am sure I will adjust these a little as I jumped color ranges and basically broke all the "easy" rules of copic coloring because I did not have trios in the shades I wanted. So if you have the Caio sets then you have these!

So those were the make and takes last night! I think everyone enjoyed being able to see how the copic markers work. They really are a dream.
I was able to give away $150 in prizes last night too! with everyone getting atleast $5 to order something new! I also had 3 big prizes of $30, $20 and $15 and 2 half price items and a hostess set too! Plus everyone got to check out all my seminar trades and projects and the display boards that I, Seleise, Debi and Barbara won at seminar.

This weeks sketch utilizes the popular label shapes available in the nestabilities and other die cutting systems. They are totally addictive - and I must have them all! Our annual convention for The Angel Company starts on THURSDAY! I am SO excited as this means a whole new catalog and idea book comes out on FRIDAY! A week or so ago I got a call from our Head Pastor at church. Here is how our conversation went...
Heather, you know Diana is leaving us and we are having a going away luncheon for her next week? Well we were talking in the office and some one said we should collect all the cards and notes for her and put them in some kind of book or something. A Keepsake Album of sorts. Then someone said 'If she had time I bet Heather Scott could do something cool!'
And I said "Ya I bet if she had time she could!" LOL!!!
I mean seriously - isn't summer supposed to be relaxing and laid back time? Where is my time to chill by the pool and drink frozen Margheritas? I want a refund!
I was actually thinking though when she asked me, well VBS doesn't start til next week, and I have Stamping night out on Thursday. Could I use the album as my Stamping Night out Demo? Yep!
Yes Pastor Kay - I do have time and I will do something cool!
So off to figure out what to do for a keepsake album, a pocket album of sorts. A book to keep notes and cards - which would be great for graduations, milestone birthdays, retirements, job transitions. It will be a great gift idea for any of those occasions.
Thinking about what to do - I wanted to make pockets to slip cards and notes and pictures into. It had to be able to be added to if necessary and the pockets needed to accomodate full sized greeting cards. I started with a regular linen 8x8 album. You can get the just about everywhere - I happened to have had one left over from way back when The Angel Company carried linen albums. Yeah!
I printed the words onto vellum and embossed them in gold. The red center of the flower is a piece of scarlet CS that I stamped and then added crystal lacquer on top.
Now for the pockets...
I took a sheet of Kraft 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock and trimmed off a little off the long side - my page protectors actually heldp 8 1/4 x 8. I then scored the piece at 8" along the short edge and folded over. Then I used my corrugator to crimp just that flap. When inserted into the page protector the flap acts to close the pocket - so nothing slips out.
I REALLY like how it turned out. I didn't want to do too much because it will be very "busy" once you get all the cards and notes added to the pockets. I think it will serve the purpose of collecting all the notes and cards - and if she wants to she can also add pictures and journalling to the back side of the pockets.
So what do you think? Won't that make the perfect keepsake album? What a great gift idea for graduations, milestone birthdays and retirements too! I am very excited and am pondering offering them on etsy for sale - made in custom colors. How much would you pay for an album like that - or a better question how much would you see one for sale at? :-)

I was going for a farmish down home feel - and combined the embossed dots and lattice to achieve it. I love all the texture just a scorpal and scor-bug can create! Toss in good ole Swiss dots and I am in heaven! I was playing some more with my Copic Markers too - they are really fun once you get your feet wet with them a little.
I kind of cheated on the tan of my bird - as far as "copic rules" go. They say to use one color - a medium value, then choose a darker and a lighter in its same number family - only jumping 1-3 numbers. Well when I did that i absolutely hated the brown it turned my turkey! (i mean chicken! LOL!) So I opted for jumping clear out of range and I shaded my hen with E31 and E53 - with the 53 being the shadow. To me it just matched the kraft better than any other combo. I think I edited out all the shading on his beak in photoshop - it is much more shaded than the picture looks.
So note to self - for Kraft and Copics - go for the E31 and E53! Adding that one to my shading journal.

Kiddos are home and got a section of their rooms cleaned up this morning. That is the attack plan this week - divide it into 5 sections - one for each day - and by the end of the week they will be done! Right? Please tell me this will work....
