I kept this one simple - with very little embellishments. Sometimes it is hard not to junk everything up!
I am holed up in my studio today - ALL DAY! I might break for bathroom cleaning I suppose. Stamping Night Out is this Thursday - so I have make and takes and card kit and Demo stuff to prepare.
These are the last few days for the September specials!
I had a moment of happy tears this morning - and I just have to tell you all how proud I am of my daughter! Some of you might know of the trouble I have had with her and the power struggle we have been going thru since she was probably 2! She is 8 1/2 now - and I am SO afraid of what life will be like with her at 16 if it is this hard right now! I pray every day for strength and wisdom in raising her. Well today I got a glimmer the fruits of my labors. How very divine that in the Beth Moore study I am doing that this mornings topic was vain labor. HA! Thanks Lord I needed that!
Our School has an alliance with an arts program and they offer after school programs a few times a year. There is limited spaces available so we know we have to return the slip with payment right away otherwise the kids do not get in. SO last night i filled it all out wrote the check and sent both kids slips in with Laney this morning. So the phone rings about 15 minutes after the kids left for school and it was the secretary. She says "no one is sick - I just wanted to share with you how Laney broke my heart this morning!" She went on to say that she had been working on the list of particpants for the Wonder Workshop. She was down to 29 out of 30 on the list and she looked up and Laney was next in line. Laney handed her both her and Logan's Slips and the check. Lynn said to her "Oh sweetheart, I only have room for one more." Laney's heart sunk, she looked down at the floor and swallowed hard. Lynn said her face turned red and she looked up at Lynn (with the biggest sweetest brown eyes you have ever seen I might add).
She said "Let him go."
I cannot even tell you how HUGE this is! Lynn said she was so selfless and giving to her brother it really moved her. She wrote to Laney's Teacher and she also said she was going to make up a certificate or something for her. I was sobbing of course because I am just a big softy and I cannot imagine how hard that was for Laney to do. They both missed the last workshop because we had a doctors appointment to go to. And the topper was that Logan came all the way back home this morning to get Laney's Basketball that she forgot. When he went back out the door I told him what a good little brother he was for doing that for her and to tell her that she owes him big time! I guess she paid up huh?

I have tears with you...but it's only going to get tougher for you - warning, warning!! My daughter is 13 and I struggle every day. But the good news is that outside the home she's good (I think and hope! So the report at school goes)...so I just keep trying and praying! :)

Wow, what a great story about both Laney and Logan. It gives you hope that once they are adults they will be good friends and that they both can put the other one before themselves even now. Makes the struggles seem worthwhile. I'm tearing up now!

Oh Heather, don't ever doubt what a great mom you are (although you will, of course - it's part of the "mom contract"). Your story had tears running down my face. What a special gift it is to know that you are on the right track.
