I have always had a love for trees - in fact when I was in school it was my favorite thing to draw and paint and I won Best of Show at my high school art festival with one such painting. The Alphabet is on the retiring list - so you can get it from now til the end of june at 25% off! Do you not LOVE that plaid???? What an unexpected stamp set to get a masculine effect from. I took the pain strip and created the plaid on the front of an ivory car by inking it up and stamping it off onto scratch paper first then onto the card. The stamp is not wide enough to cover the whole front - but if you strategically place the end of the strip to be under a layer of the card no one ever has to know! Something like this:
I stamped the script Background onto an ivory piece and then stamped the tree on top and colored. I edged the piece with a hydra sponge and Burnt Umber and then I edged it directly with the pad too to rough it up a bit. I colored with regular colore pencils and basically just scribbled a little color here and there.
And you also may be wondering what the heck I used the Scor-pal for? :-) I call it "structured tearing" and it basically controls your tearing so that you end up with a nice torn edge without going off in the weeds! I did that on the brown layer.
This card also used the sketch from Monday - flipped again to the other side. I think I just like it better on that side!
I jumped onto a Father's Day Card Blog Hop - check out all the others creations!

Yesterday the kiddos cleaned out my car - whoo hoo!!! I had to help a little but they did most of the work. Laney actually said afterwards that they were going to do it once a month. I think she like the $2 I paid each of them! I actually have them earing the money to go swimming this summer because if they had their way we would be at the pool everyday - and Mama just can't do that!
I did actually get those 12 cards done yesterday. It however took me 12 hours and not 2! I also cleaned the bathroom, the car out with the kids, made dinner - oh and I took a shower too! Today it is computer time! To put those cards onto idea sheets! Ought to be a fun day - you think I can finish them up by lunch? That is the goal!

I love how you colored the tree...so realistic. Great card!

LOVE the coloring you did on the tree. And how clever to create your own plaid.
