I had fun coloring that little guy!  adding the stickles to the "rocks" and then Crystal Lacquer over top of the whole image really makes it POP!  Here is a closer look:

I am not doing a great job photgraphically to catch the detail!  Take my word for it - it look cool!

So this Saturday is National Scrapbook day!  I am of course having an all day event - 14 HOURS of non stop crop time!  Whoo Hoo!  I am having prizes, games a FREE Make and Take and a RAFFLE!  If you have participated in my raffles - you know how OZ-some they are!  You will be receiving tickets all day - and I will raffle off the goods at 10PM.  How do you get tickets you ask?   Let me tell you!  IF you want to play in the raffle:

Monday groove

I have been super duper busy making invitation to a surprise party for my in-laws Anniversary party - AND I did a MAJOR clean sweep in my bedroom yesterday.  I am SO proud of myself!  My husband? Not so much.  I have huge trashbags of stuff I purged and am donating to charity.   Eric could only part with 5 T-shirts, and one long sleeve Polo shirt.  Uh HELLO????  He should have atleast as much as I did!  Oh well I feel so much better - and my bedroom almost looks like a bedroom again instead of a dumping ground.

This morning I have to finish up the invites and get these bags out of my living room so I can work out!   And prep work for National Scrapbook Day on saturday!  Crop til you drop in Manhattan - I will be having a raffle, prizes, projetcs and maybe even a game or 2!  I hope you can join me!

Another Bind It All Project

Today I have for you the demo project from my last Stamping Night Out - a graduated chipboard and transparency book with the Bind It All.  Here is the finished book I made for the demo (I always give it away so I did not add pictures or personalization)

If you would like to make your own here is the down low...

You will need:
2 pieces from Chipboard Stack
1 sheet of Transparency
1 6" section of Bind It All Wires
Bind It All
Heavy Duty Corner Rounder
Rotary Blade type paper trimmer ( I have a Carl)
Stazon Ink (White for Transparency)

I started with two pieces from the Chipboard Stack.  You want to cut one piece to 2 1/4 x 4 1/2.  This will form the two top pages - and your second sheet from the chipboard stack will be the back page.

Corner round 2 corners of each page.

Now you want 2 transparency pages - I cut mine to 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 and 4 1/4 x 4 1/2.  You need to corner round two corners of these pages also - but DO NOT use the Heavy Duty Corner Rounder!!!  It will jam even if you stack it with the cardstock or with the chipboard - and you will get mad.  (Experience talking ladies - seriously!  I think I jammed about 4 different corner rounders - so just cut it with scissors and be happy!!) 

I lined mine up with the chipboard pages and cut along the edge with my Mini Kai Scissors.  Stamp and edge them before moving on as well - I used White Stazon to egde the pages and I also stamped Curls and Swirls on the edge of both pages.

Stack your pages - and punch with Bind It All - you can do 2 chipboard pieces at one time with the pink BIA but only one with the blue.   So I broke my book into 2 sections and punched them both.

Now stack your book back together and flip the back page around to the front cover - so on top you will be looking at the INSIDE of the BACK cover.

Insert wires into holes - because the next to last page is transpareny I inserted the rings from the back instead of the front because the "ends" of the wires will let that page slip thru!  Putting them thru the back places the bends of the wires along the edge of that transparency page - instead of the open ends. 
 
Now press with BIA.

Now you can embellish and decorate your book!

I like the yellow, green, kraft and black color combo on this card - which is what started the whole thing off.  Green scraps on my desk that I was trying to clear off!  Love it when inspiration strikes out of necessity to clear a spot to work in/on!  The Old Worl Ornaments is one of the On Sale Retiring stamps - 25% off is a great deal at under $12 for the whole set of like 9 images.  They all "fit" together to make great background patterns and designs.  I love those!    The Friends set from the Spring Into April set is also featured - simple yet elegant with just a touch of color it is the perfect sentiment.

I am sad to not be working diligently to prep for the Diva Crop this weekend.  I was looking forward to going as a venfdor and seeing all the croppers I have not gotten to see in like forever!  My Husband's Aunt Alice passed away and her funeral will be on Sunday.  She was a real pistol and I have been missing her since she went to Floirida last year to stay with her daughter Barb.  We used to have lunch on Tuesday's and she even joined me for a few Bible Study lessons.  I took her to quite a few radiation treatments - me and Logan.  The best memories are of a certain trip to San Antonio - my angel friend Annette and I took - Alice hitched a ride to see her grand daughter along with us going to TAC Winter Retreat.  24 hours on the road and LOTS of laughter!! She was a very special soul and our family will have fond memories of her and the times we got to spend with her.  I am going to gather some pictures today for her memorial service and I am sure I will have lots of tears but more smiles in memeory of our crazy times together.  She was just a hoot!

Well I better get going - I still have to fix my hair and get my eyes on before I hit the road!  Have a blessed day!

Card sketch #70!

70 sketches - good golly!  ITime flies when you are having fun eh?  That is alot of sketches!  The sketch for today was born from a card first - you know which came first the card or the sketch?  Well today it was the card!  I will post it tomorrow though - so you gotta wait...

I had a fabulous weekend of stamping almost ALL weekend with my peeps!  Saturday we ate and stamped and ate and scrapped and ate and stamped some more!  Sunday - we had a Stamping Shower for our dear Beverly from Lee's Summit who lost her house to fire 4 weeks ago today.  I was so excited to help get her up and crafting again!  She has received lots of stamping scrapping and crafting items from some wonderful people!!!  I am so amazed (as is she) at the generosity of our little "community of crafters".  Lord knows we all probably have enough stuff for 10 people!   She is such a crack up - I am SO blessed to have her on my team of angels!

I actually made some progress in my studio last week - Yeah!  I am now able to take pictures again on my desk!  They thing I said I was working on though is still in progress.  It is gonna be a fun adventure learning something new for me - and hopefully YOU will learn something new from it!  Stay tuned...

I love doing butterflies like that - I just stamp onto vellum and let it dry. Then I cut it out with my Mini Kai Scissors - essential especially for the teeny tiny details ones. Then I put a line of glue just along the body of the butterfly on the back. Stick it down to your card with that line of glue - then add Stickles to the rest of the wings and body as desired. The moisture of the Stickles with make your wings curl and give such dimension it looks like they will fly right off the card.

So - whats up for today?  I am working on TACnique night which is tomorrow night.  I am also working on a blogging idea I had last week - and hopefully will have the first installment ready to post tomorrow.  I had to clean up my studio table this morning in order to be able to stamp - so I have one little spot - oh crap I guess I messed it up again making that card huh!?!  UGH - it really is never ending - why do I fight it?  Ok I have not been fighting so hard lately have I - it is obviously apparent in the utter disaster area I am calling my studio lately.  

Ah... Woe is me right?  Off to workout and get some spring cleaning done.  I told Laney last night we should do some of that in our bedrooms and she said "Uh, I think we should do that in the SUMMER - not spring."  Procrastinator in the making eh?  We are BORN with this - why fight it???   How funny!!!

Card Sketch Monday #69

My Monday sketch is ready - and I hope you get a chance to play with it.  Be sure to add a linky if you do!

I have some really great pictures from Easter to scrap - I am SO excited! We even took a dry moment yesterday and tried to get a good family picture. Boy is it hard to get 5 people to look good in a picture - especially when 2 of them are too silly and wiggly to sit still and not make funny faces! Eric got some really great shots of the kids in the Easter Egg Hunt at church - the rain even stayed away for long enough to have it outside too - which was very iffy all morning.


It was a great Easter for us - we ate WAY too much at grandma's - and I got lots of pictures of the kids with great Grandma and Grandpa there too. Saturday I dunno what the heck was up with my head - but it was not pretty. I wanted to head out for some shopping and a trip to the zoo with the kids - but I ended up sick instead. Not pretty. We ended up shopping in the evening and going out for dinner instead. Which pushed our Easter Egg coloring to Sunday too!

DJ was in charge - and he did such a great job!  I was making Cheesecake for our desert for dinner while they went to town coloring.  There was minimal fighting - but definately a threat or 2 to NEVER color eggs again...  Sheesh!

Well I am off to workout and get ready to go to lunch - hope you had a great Easter weekend and you get a chance to be creative this week!

I used the new Spring Into April stamp set Forever Friends.  Check out the coloring on this card - I love how it turned out!

I used my trusty Prisma Color pencils.  No blender or anything - just my bare naked pencils on good quality paper.  You can really get nice blends with JUST the pencils - but it is imperative that you are working on GOOD paper like our UltraSmooth White Cardstock or Stardust Cardstock!!  For the pot - I colored so much that i felt like I could not see the black lines anymore because the pink was all over the top.  I tried to remedy it by going over them with my Black Gelly Roll Glaze pen - which does the trick IF you can do them nice and steady.  I however did not do such a great job.  So now what?  Stickles makes eveything better right?  (Hi Julie!)  I just stickled over top of the glaze pen and it took away all the Boo Boos. 

So - on to the tag trick!

First start with a strip of cardstock that is 1 3/4 inches wide - this is for the Giga Merchandise Tag punch.  If you are using a different size tag be sure your width is almost as wide as the regular tag when punched out.  We are going to insert this strip into the punch from the bottom of the punch so that only ONE end of it will be punched.  You do not stick it in like normal.  It should look like this:

Then you punch and end up with this:

Next take that strip and flip it - right over left - so now your punched end is on your right.  Slip it back into the punch the same way you did the first time like this:

Now punch and you end up like this:

Now you just cut off both sides of the tag.  I made it even easier to see where to cut by using my Scor-pal to make a cutting guide.  I lined up my tag with any score line on the Scor-pal so that both the same bumps of the tag were in line with the same line.  Like this:

Then score along that line and repeat for the other side of the tag.  So you have 2 scored lines to cut along like this:

Then Snip snip and you have this:

Add brads to the ends or punch holes or layer another piece on top and voila - a very nice Label shape using your Merchandise Tag Punch.

Double Pouch Bag

A few weekends ago I was away at our Annual Winter Angel Round Up hosted by myself, Avis and Lori.  What a FUN event!  Avis was in charge of our "ClubMED" event for the team leaders and above in our company.  She brought a project for us all to make - and I just LOVED it!  She showed us the how to and then challenged us to design and decorate our own.  I did just that and taught it at my Stamping Night out last week thursday - and promised the girls I would post it on my blog!  Well - I am finally getting to that!  Avis shared the link where she got the idea - Here and I also found another here.  Both of these tutorials make a smaller pouch - and I wanted to make it bigger - bigger is better right???  I am always looking for cute ways to give a set of handmade cards - and i thought this one would be perfect.

I adjusted the measurements and altered the top closure.  I was able to fit 4 cards in one side and 4 envelopes in the other side.   Here is mine finished:

SO I started with a 12x12 piece of Mimi Paper. I scored from two sides at 1/2 inch. 

Fold that over and adhere it down to itself.  (see next picture)  This reinforces the edge and makes it nice and crisp. Next place your paper back onto the Scor-pal and then score in the middle at 5 1/2. 

Next scoot the left edge of your paper over to 1/4 and score at 5 and 6 1/2 - this will give you a scored line 3/4 of an inch to the right and left of your center line.

 

Now you are going to turn your paper on the Scor-pal 90 degrees and you will score at 3 and 9.

Now you can fold your paper up - You will want to fold the lines you scored LAST first.  SO fold on the 3 and 9 lines

then fold in half with the open side of your purse OUT like this:

then fold back on the lines that are 3/4 inch to the right and left of your middle. 

and then the other

Now you have the basic purse shape - but in order for our purse to be big enough to handle regular A2 envelopes I have made it so the papers just meet in the middle.  (the other 2 tutorials I linked to above overlap in the middle)  We will disguise this with 2 Tag tabs that will also act as closure for our pouches.  We will also attach our oval handle (this was Julie Griffiths Idea for her handle on her challenge purse) at the same time as these tags.  You will need an oval with the center cut out - I cut mine on my Colluzzle.  Before attaching any of these pieces I drew stitches on them all with my Tombow WHite Gel Pen.  It looks GREAT on the dark brown cardstock.  First attach the oval like this:

Then I punched out two Giga Merchandise tags with my punch, drew stitches and then ran them thru my corrugator. Then attach your two tags like this

Next add some extra adhesive on top of the pieces you just adhered onto your purse - like this to close the purse inside up we fold it closed:

Now just fold it up on your scored lines and be sure to line up both sides together - and voila!

One of the tags in that picture is on the wrong side of the handle - so just bend it down and slip it thru.  Next I added velcro dots to the tags - to act as closure for each pouch of my purse:

Then decorate the front of your purse:

I made up a set of cards and a little Matchbook of Labels for the receiver of my gift to use as greetings on the cards.  (I got that brilliant idea from the Paper Trey blog - she put them into a portfolio with stamps and I just made a matchbook for the greetings.)  First we sponged ink onto the labels - so they would not HAVE to be white!

Then I scored a piece of ivory CS at 1 and 5 1/4 fold on the scored lines and insert the labels to form a matchbook of greetings.

There is a blank layer on the front of all the cards for them to peel and stick the appropriate greeting onto the cards.  SO so clever!

SO that is how I did my version of the Double Pouch Bag - super duper easy!!  You do not really even have to measure - if you are not trying to fit in anything in particular that is!
